Today, on 20th August, another wonderful exhibition has been inaugurated at the Modern Art Exhibition Hall of the Trust. ‘Himalayas through the eyes of the Russian Artist' – has been the subject of paintings presented by Mr Alexander Egorov, professional painter and professor of art from Moscow, Russia. Mr Egorov depicted the beauty of Himalayas, wonders of the land of majestic summits and its breath-capturing nature. He traveled across Ladakh, and brought many paintings done on the spot there – Stupas, Buddhist monasteries and ancient palaces at the background of the commanding mountains – these are the main topics of his paintings. Kullu valley with silvery river Beas winding through this valley of Gods is also one of the subjects of his paintings. It was a beauty of nature that enchanted him from his very childhood and prompted to become a painter. He started painting in his very early childhood, from the age of 4. Later, after becoming a professional painter, he traveled a lot – around Russia , its vast lands and ancient cities, and also he ascended all possible mountains – as Alexander says, his passion was to climb on the utmost top of the mountain, and to paint from there, looking at the panorama of the world below.
As a media Mr Egorov uses pastels. As he confesses, the nature of the pastels is soft, airy and somewhat transparent, and thus closer to his heart and vision. Also they are easiest to carry and work with during his journeys.
During the inauguration of his exhibition, Mr Egorov was telling about the closeness and similarities between Russian and Indian peoples in different spheres. He said, there is a spiritual magnet between the two nations. He exhorted young students of Helena Roerich Art College present at the exhibition to work hard and to have an aspiration to become great painters, musicians or scientists. He said, that it is up to the children to grow in their chosen art subject and to continue to develop this Centre into a world famous cultural centre.
