Students of Helena Roerich Art College extend their musical welcome in honor of the guests coming for the inauguration of the new exhibition

On 5th June 2011 new painting exhibition had been inaugurated at the Modern Art Exhibition Hall of the Roerich Estate. Senior painter, Carol Fraser from England put up her solo show titled “Sacred Spaces”.  Carol Fraser, the teacher, musician and writer exhibited her 35 oil paintings.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chairman, Zila Parishad, Kullu, Sh. Hari Chand Sharma. Special blessings for the success of the exhibition were pronounced by Ven. Rigzin Namgyal, the Head Lama, Nurnis Gompa from Ladakh.

Born in England in 1938, her earlier life was devoted to the study of music, both Western and Indian. It was the work with young children in the inner city slums that her love of colour and painting first evoke.

She has spent much time wandering in the Himalayas, devoting herself to spiritual practice and meditation. This has profoundly affected her art in which she seeks to honour the sacred spaces of Nature and of the human soul.

Her art is deeply influenced by her experiences in music, and also inspired by the streaming life-forces and the subtle inner music that she senses in Nature and particularly in the grandiose scenery of the Himalayas. She firmly believes that through art these hidden dimensions of existence can be explored and revealed.

She has exhibited her work mainly in Switzerland, but sells her work also in various countries, which she visits in order to give lectures and workshops on the teachings of Sri Shin Shiva Swayambhu.
