Invitation card for the exhibition

New painting exhibition by Kumari Marta Meagher, painter from USA, was inaugurated by H.E. Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Mr Tamerlan Karaiev during the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Roerich Pact of Culture held solemnly at the Trust on 2nd May. H.E. Ambassador of Russia, Mr Alexander Kadakin, H.E. Ambassador of Tajikistan, Mr Saidbeg Saidov and Charge de Attaché of Ukraine, Mr P.Shmatchkov were also present at the occasion.

After lighting traditional dipa lamp, the painter introduced high guests to the world of her art.

Her friends, a music band, performed western bhajans for the people who joyfully joined their tunes.

Kumari (born Marta Meagher) calls herself a ‘Painter of Delight’. Like all artists, she finds inspiration from the world around her. However, her world is multicolored, multifaceted, light-filled, ever-changing, and set against a background of perfect stillness. A major shift came in her work with the painting titled ‘Happy Door’, 2006. Although a painter since age three, and academically trained as an artist in the U.S., Europe and Taiwan, her work moved into a new level with this painting. In essence, it became apparent that happiness is just a matter of opening the right door. Her paintings, alive, carefree, and bold, are just that, they are a celebration of our freedom. They are a celebration of our right to be, just as we are, a beautiful, perfect manifestation of existence.

Though born in the U.S., India, as Kumari feels, is her home and she maintains a permanent painting studio in Pune. She holds regular exhibitions of her work and has a steady client base. Her pieces are in corporate and private collections in India and around the world. In addition to her private work, she directs exhibitions for artists (kumariart.com) and supports ‘First Hug’, a project for orphaned infants in Pune.

This is Kumari’s second exhibition held at the IRMT (first was held in 2006).
