The exhibition was inaugurated by a Russian painter N. Borisova-Zaitseva |
On Sunday 28th October, new exhibition has been inaugurated at the Modern Art Exhibition Hall. It was sort of exception from usual exhibitions, because what was displayed, does not belong to the world of art. Still, it followed one of the main directions of the Roerichs’ family work – botanical research and medicinal plants cultivation.
Having in view future revival of the Urusvati Himalayan Research Institute founded by the Roerichs, we thought about some relevant work which would also benefit people of Naggar. Thus we decided to initiate our own medicinal herbs plantation and botanical research at the modest level. Gokul Chand, local gardener has taken care of this work. Now it is the third year that the Trust runs this project. The exhibition contains some of the results of it – roots, powder extracted from the herbs, seeds and ready incense were displayed here. Gokul was explaining to the visitors the usage of different medicines extracted from the plants. Such plants like Aconitum heterophyllum, Gentiana, Saussurea Lapa, Mundal, Angelica glaca, Gentiana cachemirica and other were displayed at the exhibition. All of them are sought for their medicinal properties.
Visitors of the exhibition can also buy these herbs there.
The exhibition will last till 20th November.
