'THE CULTIVATED GARDEN' - PAINTING EXHIBITION OF SAL SIDNER (UK/USA) AT THE MODERN ART EXHIBITION HALL (26.07.2009 - 08.08.2009)

Children and guests of the Trust enjoy the concert

26th July was another busy Sunday at the Roerich Trust, beaming with positive energies.
In the morning, when all students of Helena Roerich Art College came to the Theatre ground for prayer before their classes, they were surprised by the concert - Mr Alexander Novoseltsev from Yelets, Russia, performed for everybody on Russian folk instruments - balalaika and garmon. His performance started with the words about the famous Russian writer, actor and film director, late Vasiliy Shukshin, whose 80th birth anniversary was at this very day celebrated in far away Altai mountains, at his native village. Alexander sang songs which were loved by V.Shukshin, and also songs written by the Cossacks - ancient clan of warriors, tradition that is alive in Russia till date. At the end of his performance he invited on stage Julia Barkova and  Himalayan Eagles' - and all sang together. Everybody enjoyed the performance.

After the concert, all students and guests were invited to the Modern Art Exhibition Hall, and the new painting exhibition  was inaugurated - 'The Cultivated Garden' of Sal Sidner from UK/USA. Sal Sidner brought some paintings executed by her in Delhi, at the famous Lodhi Garden. Rest of the paintings she has done here in Naggar. Some of the local people presented at the exhibition, happily recognized themselves at her paintings. She painted local people of Naggar and Rumsu village during their work, in their houses, courtyards and temples.
